POSE — Dance Artistry Challenge

Where performance meets personality.

A refined, theatrical talent event that celebrates dance, creativity and sheer stage presence. POSE invites dancers to compete across multiple rounds that test technique, costume storytelling, improvisation and crowd connection — all in one thrilling evening.

Event Overview

POSE is a multi-stage dance competition designed to showcase dancers’ range and artistry. Competitors perform two distinct dance pieces, present a themed costume, and face an improvisation challenge — with the audience playing a key role in deciding who advances.

Competition Format (Step-by-step)

Round 1 — Talent #1

  1. Each competitor performs their first prepared dance piece (any genre).

  2. Performances are judged on technique, musicality and artistic interpretation.

Costume Showcase

  1. Competitor appears on stage in their best themed costume.

  2. The costume presentation is an opportunity to act, pose and sell the character — storytelling is rewarded.

First Elimination (Audience + Judges)

  1. Shortlisted competitors advance to the improvisation round.

  2. Audience impressions begin to form — these matter later.

Round 2 — Improvisation & Audience Input

  1. Competitors undertake a 1-minute improvisation on a provided prompt or track.

  2. A short audience questionnaire captures immediate reactions and favourites.

  3. An audience vote determines which performers progress to the final round.

Final Round — Talent #2

  1. Competitors who pass the audience vote perform their second prepared piece (any genre).

  2. Final placements are decided from these performances.

Judging & Advancement

  • Judges score technical skill, performance quality and artistic interpretation across applicable rounds.

  • Audience votes and questionnaire feedback contribute to which competitors progress between stages — POSE blends professional adjudication with crowd response.

  • In the event of a tie, the lead judge will decide final placement.

Categories & Age Groups

POSE can host multiple age and ability divisions. Sections may be combined for competition viability, but each competitor is judged within their originally entered category for final placements.

Entries & Requirements

  • Two prepared dance pieces (any genre).

  • One themed costume for the showcase.

  • Competitors must be ready to improvise on the night.

  • Entries must comply with safety and costume guidelines (no hazardous props; suitable footwear/costuming).

Audience Participation

POSE makes audience engagement part of the spectacle. The audience questionnaire and voting are simple, secure and designed to reflect immediate audience favourites — contributing directly to who advances to the final.
